Operations Manager, Veritas Petroleum Services (Asia) Pte Ltd
Mathews has 5 years’ experience as a Petroleum Surveyor in two other Petroleum Surveying Companies prior to joining DNV Petroleum Services (DNVPS), in 1990, as a Bunker Surveyor.
Mathews was with DNVPS for the past 23 years and was heading the Operations Department since 2003. In 2006 in Oslo, Norway, Mathews completed a DNV Management Course. DNVPS was bought over by a new Owner in July 2014 and the company was renamed as Veritas Petroleum Services (Asia) Pte Ltd (VPS). Mathews continues as the Operations Manager and responsible for all the Bunker Surveys carried out in Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, China, India and Malaysia. He has also acted as an expert witness in litigation case and provided an independent assessment on a number of bunker quantity dispute cases.
Mr George is one of the invited lecturers involved in conducting the Bunker Surveyors Course and Examination for the licensing of bunker Surveyors in the port by MPA, since the inception in the year 2000. The course is currently conducted by STET Maritime Pte Ltd – Maritime Education and Training.
Mathews was a member of the Working Group for both the past (SS600:2008) and the current (SS600:2014) - Singapore Standard for Bunkering and was appointed as a Technical Assessor for the accreditation scheme for inspection bodies under the Singapore Accreditation Council since October 2009. He was then appointed as Chairman of National Mirror Committee for ISO 13739 revision by TC for bunkering in July 2015, followed shortly by being appointed as member of the Technical Committee for Cargo Inspection by Singapore Accreditation Council in October 2015.
He presented on the Role of Surveyors in the roll out of the TR48:2015 Technical Reference for Bunker Mass Flow Metering on the 16 February 2016.
