Marine Technical Quality Manager, World Fuel Services Europe
As an integral part of the WFS Marine Technical group, John is focussed on delivering added value to WFS customers, where he is involved in continuous training for both internal and external customers on general fuel properties, emission control regulations and quality/quantity disputes.
John has been an active Member of the ISO 8217 Work Group, Heavy Fuels and a member of the CIMAC Heavy Fuel Oil Work Group, since 2008.
A Board Member of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) (2007 to 2014, 2015-present), John has also been a committee member at the annual International Bunker Conference (IBC), in Scandinavia, helping to conceptualise the conference for the bunker industry, since 2004.
Before joining WFS, John held many different positions at DNV Petroleum Services, where his career spanned over two decades, with responsibilities which included lecturing at DNVPS’ fuel management courses, project management, and development follow up of DNVPS’ statistical benchmarking tool, Fuel Insight. He was responsible for the development and implementation of data analytics and, as Business Development Manager, helped customers reduce consumption and emissions through in-house fuel management projects. John was joint Chair of ISO 8217 WG, Heavy Fuels, H2S Sub-group project in 2012, Chairman of IBC 32 in 2011, and he was the Project Manager for the Norwegian Ship Owners Association Low Sulphur Fuel Forum Work Process 1, focusing on the general quality of low sulphur fuels – culminating in the ‘MARULS Report’.
John was previously a Bunker Quantity Survey Controller, responsible for DNVPS BQS ports in Scandinavia, Spain and Gibraltar, and a Customer Service Manager, where he was responsible for the daily contact with Scandinavian customers, including Maersk, Frontline, Odfjell, Star Shipping, KG Jebsen, Høegh and Klaveness.
