Head of Shorepower, Port of Barcelona Ana Arévalo is a Naval Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and holds a Master's Degree in Management Development - PMD® from ESADE Business & Law School. Her professional career has developed over the last 25 years linked to the naval and port logistics sector. Ana is currently the Head of the Shorepower Department of the Port of Barcelona, she is leading the implementation and deployment of NEXIGEN, an ambitious, complex and strategic plan for the energy transition, electrification and decarbonisation of the Port of Barcelona. Her conviction and passion for collaboration and effective communication, continuous learning, a cross-cutting and multidisciplinary work approach are the keys to success in developing a unique and innovative project, addressing and solving complex challenges in a comprehensive and efficient way. Ana participates as an expert in different associations and working groups at national, European and international level on Shorepower on behalf of the Port of Barcelona and Puertos del Estado. She also participates regularly as a speaker in different technical forums and is a lecturer at the Escola Europea Intermodal transport. Secretary, Nuclear Energy Maritime Organization (NEMO) Tobi graduated from the University of St. Andrews with an MA Honours degree in 1999. Starting his career with a leading shipbroker he has built up 25 years of experience in the shipping and offshore markets. Tobi’s track record encompasses chartering, sale and purchase activities and extensive project work in the maritime industry. Since leaving the offshore broking sector in 2021, his role now encompasses two elements, one as the Secretary for the newly-established NEMO and another as Director of Business Development for CORE POWER, where he focuses on identifying and capitalising on new opportunities that align with CORE POWER’s organisational goals. He has worked in the maritime industry both in the UK and in Asia and excels in building relationships with clients, stakeholders and industry partners, playing a pivotal role in expanding both NEMO and CORE POWER’s market presence. Tobi has been a Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers since 2001 and a Fellow since 2018. SVP Application Development, PowerCell Group Fleet Projects Director, Balearia Has a background as Project Manager at Unión Naval de Levante shipyard in different types of vessels (Ferry, Chemical Tanker, Container, etc.), supervising bidding, design, material procurement, subcontracting, production, testing and delivery processes. CEO and founding partner at steel works company, Cuevas y Anduiza, with an annual turnover of 5 million euro and 80 employees. Area Sales Manager for Marine Engineering in SENER, covering Europe and Asia. And Fleet Projects Director at Balearia, responsible for the conversion of 6 vessels to Dual Fuel (MGO and LNG), re-motorization of fast ferries, scrubbers installation and new buildings, including hybrid ferry and dual fuel HSC Catamarans. Senior Manager - Marine Applications, MAN Energy Solutions Iberia Fernando Marcos is the Senior Manager for Marine Applications at MAN Energy Solutions Iberia, where he has been working since 2006. He brings over 30 years of experience in the shipping industry. He holds a Master’s degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, an Executive MBA from IESE Business School, and a Master’s degree in Economics and Finance from ESADE Business School. In addition to his professional role, Fernando is an Associate Professor at the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, where he teaches courses on marine diesel engines, ship propulsion, and decarbonization. He currently serves as the coordinator of the Repsol Foundation Chair on Energy Transition in Maritime Transport at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Climate Policy & Analysis Manager, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping Joe Bettles is Climate Policy and Analysis Manager at the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping in Copenhagen. With a Master’s in Public Policy from UC San Diego and a background in renewable energy development, he focuses on the economic impacts of climate regulation on shipping companies and marine fuel suppliers. In 2024, Joe launched the “Countdown” newsletter series, providing analysis of FuelEU Maritime and IMO mid-term measures to support investment in green shipping. He chairs the FuelEU Calculation Workstream under the European Sustainable Shipping Forum, which recently submitted step-by-step implementation guidance for publication by the European Commission. Joe currently leads a project at the Center to support industry understanding of the IMO’s Net Zero Framework and the development of effective guidelines. His work aims to drive innovation, reduce compliance barriers, and accelerate the transition to low- and zero-emission shipping. Director of environmental regulatory affairs Group Commercial, Bunker Holding Maria Skipper Schwenn joined Bunker Holding as Director of Environmental Regulatory and Public Affairs in 2023. Her primary tasks include securing Bunker Holding staying ahead of the curve in the transition to a low-carbon maritime industry by keeping track of the regulatory landscape and promoting the priorities of Bunker Holding, the world’s largest maritime fuel supplier. Before joining Bunker Holding Maria worked as Executive Director, Climate, Environment and Security at Danish Shipping for 13 years advocating the interests of Danish shipowners. She served as advisor to the Danish IMO delegation and was a member of ICS Marine Committee and ECSA Safety and Environment Committee. In her current position, Maria chairs the EWABA Maritime Task Force and is member of the board of Danfoss IXA, producer of marine emission monitoring systems. She was elected to IBIA’s Global Board of Directors in April 2024 and is also member of IBIA’s delegation to IMO. Maria holds a Master’s degree in political science from University of Southern Denmark and a Master’s degree in European Politics and Administration from the College of Europe, Belgium. Co-Founder and Deputy CEO, bound4blue Cristina, COO and co-founder of bound4blue, holds a BSc. & MSc. in Aeronautical Engineering and an Executive MBA from IESE Business School. She has also attended several business programs at the University of Cambridge, ESADE Business School and Singularity University. Cristina has participated in more than 15 national and European projects, being the inventor of more than 11 patents in the field of wind-assisted propulsion systems and its various applications (such as hydrogen generation). Due to her endeavour, she has received several awards, such as being recognized by Nor-Shipping with the Young Entrepreneur Award.
