Waves of consolidation regularly result in the smaller bunker suppliers, traders and brokers getting swallowed up and absorbed into increasingly powerful bunkering heavyweights with credit lines and buying power that smaller players can only dream about. But ultimately, is this what the markets really want? This session will examine, through discussion, how some players are using their experience, guile, and sheer determination to carve themselves a niche in today’s cutthroat market place.

Q&A | ||
SESSION TEN: BUNKER BUYERS’ DISCUSSIONS
Forget the run-up to IMO 2020 and the hype over surging price differentials, the rush to fit scrubbers and to lock in long term contracts for compliant fuels – the world has changed completely, with a collapse in prices, ample availability of compliant fuels and a narrowing of differentials significant enough to almost wipe out any benefit of retrofitting scrubbers. But then came COVID-19, plummeting demand, and a whole new set of ‘circumstances’, including the total shut down of the global cruise sector. This session will attempt to find the positives as the shipping and bunkering sectors look towards recovery and to a brighter future.
Llewellyn Bankes-Hughes, Managing Director, Petrospot Ltd Ángel Canessa, Head of Bunker Procurement, Ultranav |
||
Q&A chat box | ||
SESSION ELEVEN: BUNKERSPOT INTERVIEW - LNG BUNKERING IN THE AMERICAS
This session will look at developments in the use of liquefied natural gas as a marine fuel – the only ‘new’ fuel that has so far managed to carve out a niche (albeit so far only a small one). What are the short- and medium-term prospects for LNG and will it be the long-term answer that the market is looking for?
Lesley Bankes-Hughes, Director of Publishing/Executive Editor, Bunkerspot/Petrospot Ltd Silvia Fernandes de Marucci, Executive Manager Economic Analysis & Market Research, Panama Canal Authority (ACP) |
||
