Maritime Week Americas is a hugely popular week-long series of events created to bring together bunker suppliers, traders and buyers – and related maritime professionals – from every part of North, South and Central America and the Caribbean.
This year it takes place overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a stones’ throw from Port Everglades, one of the most important cruise, petroleum and container ports in the Americas.
MWA 2016 comprises a high-level two-day conference, five specialist training courses and workshops, exclusive port and marine tours and some of the most spectacular networking events in the bunker industry.

The course has been taught at many locations around the world and has provided hundreds of newcomers a helpful starting point from which to launch their careers in the bunker industry.
Bunker Dispute Resolution Workshop • 24 May
This highly professional interactive workshop on bunker dispute resolution will address the causes of bunker disputes, the resolution of those disputes when they happen and the avoidance of those disputes so that they don’t happen in the first place. It will look at how changing economic and regulatory conditions may give rise to new disputes – whether about bunker quality, quantity, delivery or payment issues – and examine ways that such disputes may be resolved.
Bunker Price Risk Management • 24 May
This half-day seminar will provide attendees with an overview of hedging tools and risk management in the oil markets, with particular emphasis on introductory swaps and options used in the oil trading business.
The event will focus on the fundamentals of hedging using futures, options and swaps to provide delegates with a background in the marine fuels sector with a useful, basic understanding of how to discuss hedging strategy with internal management and use these tools in practice.
Current examples and case studies will be used to apply ‘real world’ situations to hedging and managing both physical barrel and financial contracts risk.
The seminar is intended to encourage delegate participation and interaction, and attendees will be able to ask questions on specific areas of interest as they arise during the session.
