Maritime Week Americas 2018 celebrates Panama in the year that this amazing little country plays for the very first time in the finals of the football World Cup.
The action-packed week comprises a full programme of key maritime events, including the MWA Conference – focusing on bunkering issues, from planning for the global sulphur cap in 2020 to examining fuel options and strategies, the growing acceptance of LNG as a viable alternative bunker fuel and changing patterns in fuel quality – plus top-level training with the two-day Oxford Bunker Course (Advanced Commercial), the Bunker Dispute Resolution Workshop and the Bunker Price Risk Management Seminar.
MWA 2018 also includes some awesome networking activities, including a visit to the Expanded Panama Canal and some spectacular Latin American music, dance – and football.
The week will include:
MWA Conference • Wednesday 9 - Thursday 10 May
- The two-day conference will focus on bunkering issues, from planning for the global sulphur cap in 2020 to examining fuel options and strategies, the growing acceptance of LNG as a viable alternative bunker fuel and changing patterns in fuel quality
The Oxford Bunker Course (Advanced Commercial) • Monday 7 - Tuesday 8 May
This two-day intensive commercially-oriented bunker course is very well suited to those with a working knowledge of bunkering who require more detailed knowledge of the key elements of the commercial deal.
Bunker Dispute Resolution Workshop • Tuesday 8 May (Afternoon)
- This highly professional interactive workshop on bunker dispute resolution will address the causes of bunker disputes, the resolution of those disputes when they happen and the avoidance of those disputes so that they don’t happen in the first place. It will look at how changing economic and regulatory conditions may give rise to new disputes – whether about bunker quality, quantity, delivery or payment issues – and examine ways that such disputes may be resolved.
Bunker Price Risk Management • Tuesday 8 May (Morning)
- This half-day seminar will provide attendees with an overview of hedging tools and risk management in the oil markets, with particular emphasis on introductory swaps and options used in the oil trading business.
Table-Top Exhibit • 9-10 May
