Marta Chwesewicz
Bunkers Purchaser, Euro Marine Logistics NV
Marta joined EURO MARINE LOGISTICS NV in 2015 and has taken up the challenge from Kenneth to purchase bunkers in 2018.
After following the course with Petrospot, I’m now already doing the bunker purchasing for more then 2 years. Over this period a lot has happened and still today its very challenging in the short sea bussiness to fix bunkers. The job is not only about buying bunkers, but also being in very close contact with your operator and to advise them where to bunker.
Next to that, the evolution that the industry has been undergoing, has not gone up one gear, but even sevral gears, with a focus on renewable energy and decarbinization. The ideas and technological possibilities have increased rapidly, which is a plus for the industry. How these changes will impact the bunker market is still to be seen? Which options will be brought forward to meet the high governmental demands and which investments are needed to realize these goals.

Chelsea Jaouli
Global Business Development Manager, Tropic Oil
In 2012 I was recruited by Glencore out of Fordham University for a rotational trader development program. I started off at Glencore as a risk manager on the clearing desk executing futures for the Residuals, Distillate, Crude Oil and Gasoline trading desks. After a year in this role, I was moved into operations on the residual fuel oil desk. In this position I got my first exposure into tracking shore tank volumes and volumes received on board, in addition to the in port vessel operations, nomination of Port Agents and Surveyors. After about 6 months in this role, I took over the demurrage claims from my senior operator.
In 2015 I was recruited by Monjasa’s Stamford office, which was my first position on the commercial side of bunkering, and not involving cargo trading. Shortly after leaving Monjasa I was recruited for a position with Arte Bunkering, and I was eager to take a position that relocated me to South Florida. Arte Bunkering is where I really began to develop my client base and access my potential in bunker sales. After Arte Bunkering my next position in Bunkers was on the buy side of the business with Carnival Corporation. At Carnival I was the manager responsible for contracting the Asia Pacific Fuel Needs including Hawaii & Australia. Throughout the year at Carnival I maintained the fuel needs for the largest fleet in the group, responsible for Princess, Seabourn, Carnival Australia, Holland America, and several of the Costa ships.
During Covid Carnival laid off 60% of corporate staff, myself included. James immediately recruited me for Tropic Oil as business development manager to assist with the ever expanding footprint of Tropic Oil, Parkland, and SOL.

Capt. Christopher Roberts
Head of Sales, Minerva Bunkering
I spent 12 years at sea in the American Merchant Marine sailing as Third Mate up to Master on oil tankers all around the world. I came ashore and worked for the shipping group of Hess Corporation until 2004 when I helped launch their bunker supply business. We quickly became the largest independent supplier of bunker fuel on the US East Coast selling over 2 million mt/year out of 5 East Coast ports.
When Hess later divested all downstream M&R businesses my group was sold to Aegean Marine Petroleum where I was initially in charge of Sales and Marketing for the U.S. East coast later expanding to Los Angeles as well. Unfortunately, Aegean faced serious, self-inflicted, financial issues leading to a Chapter 11 filing during which I was elevated to global head of Sales and Marketing where I did my best to keep supply moving and maintain the good reputation of the sales group.
The Aegean business was then purchased by Mercuria Energy Trading where I am presently the Head of Sales for Minerva Bunkering (USA) LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary. I am happy to report that Minerva Bunkering is growing and is one of the largest suppliers of bunker fuel around the world, moving approximately 14 Million tons of fuel per year.
