The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has signed a three year partnership with UK event organiser and publisher Petrospot to run its annual conventions.

The first convention takes place in Cancun, Mexico from 2-6 November 2015 and will look at opportunities centred around the Gulf of Mexico. The convention will not only cover regional bunkering issues, but also the wider picture of energy deregulation in Mexico and the impact and opportunities brought by the expansion of the Panama Canal.

Welcoming the partnership, IBIA Chairman Jens Maul Jorgensen said

“I am delighted that Petrospot and IBIA will be working together again. We have collaborated in the past and now the time is right for us to build upon the IBIA conventions of past and expand our impact on the marine fuel Industry.

IBIA chief executive Peter Hall added:

“The partnership will allow IBIA to focus on its core business of providing services training and support to our members and provide leadership to the bunkering industry. IBIA will continue to direct the conventions’ content, whilst the Petrospot team will market and organise the event. The partnership will allow us to reach a greater audience than ever before.”

Llewellyn-Bankes-Hughes, Owner and Managing Director of Petrospot said “IBIA commands the industry’s goodwill and has worldwide recognition but is still something of a ‘sleeping giant’. This renewed partnership will build on that goodwill and recognition to help IBIA unleash its vast potential within the global shipping and bunkering markets.”

The Cancun convention will feature a flagship conference and a week of training, workshops and networking. Further details can be found by clicking here.
