The sixth annual Maritime Week Americas takes place at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami (29 April-3 May), attracting over 300 delegates from 32 countries. The week-long series of maritime events includes three conferences (MWA Bunkers, MWA Ports Intermodal and MWA Ship Efficiency) and four workshops and training courses (An Introduction to LNG Bunkering, Bunker Price Risk Management, Commercial Practice in Bunkering and Managing Bunker Claims). Paul Stebbins, Executive Chairman of World Fuel Services, delivers the keynote speech, The World Economy is in Crisis: Is there a way out? The event ends in a golf tournament on one of the Dorals famous courses.
Petrospot launches its first App, allowing delegates at this years Maritime Week Americas event in Miami (29 April-3 May) to see the schedule for the three conferences, four training courses and multiple social events using Apple, Android or Blackberry phones or tablets. Delegates may also check out speakers, sponsors and exhibitors, examine the delegate list and contact colleagues, tweet, visit the exhibition floor plan and locate themselves on a street map of Miami. Petrospot launches its first An Introduction to LNG Bunkering one-day course at the Swissôtel Merchant Court, Singapore (11 April) as part of Singapore Maritime Week 2013. The course, taught by Nigel Draffin, who this month also releases a new book under the same title, attracts 25 delegates, mostly from Singapore but also from Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.
Petrospot holds its Oxford Bunker Course (Advanced) training course at the Swissôtel Merchant Court, Singapore (8-10 April) as part of Singapore Maritime Week 2013 and again qualifies for Singapore's Maritime Cluster Fund funding for local companies. Previously held twice in Singapore, twice in London and once in Houston, Cape Town and Durban this popular three-day course is again led by Nigel Draffin (LQM Petroleum Services), assisted by John Phillips (Ocean Intelligence), Chris Edwards (Clyde & Co), Matthews George (DNV Petroleum Services), Trevor Harrison (Maritime Arbitrator), and Douglas Raitt (Lloyd's Register). It attracts 13 students, mostly from Singapore but also from Australia, Austria, Germany and the United Arab Emirates.
