Managing Oil Spills
Oil spills are complex, costly events that effect the environment and the business operations of the spiller. As the world becomes 'greener', it is an imperative that the bunker industry works to prevent oil spills and is prepared to respond quickly to minimise the effects of a spill, if one occurs. This session will focus on cost containment, insurance, legal, and regulatory aspects of an oil spill. The panel consists of insurance adjusters, lawyers, and former regulators, each with unique experience in dealing with oil spills.

Blending
A hands-on look at getting the most out of a barrel of bunker fuel. This session will provide an in-depth study of how bunker suppliers and buyers can use blending technology and market know-how to produce the fuels they require. It will also show how using the latest blending equipment can give suppliers the edge.

Everyone attending the Blending Workshop will be entered into a draw to win a newly-developed Fuel Oil Test Kit based on the Kittiwake density and viscosity meter, housed in a heavy-duty flight case and supplied with a Saybolt Calibration Certificate, kindly supplied by CBI Engineering. Click here for technical details.
All workshop delegates will also receive a CBI ‘Slide Chart’ on the day and workshop materials by email afterwards.

Q&A

The Bunker Arbitration Experience, a live ‘mock’ arbitration using real situations, practising lawyers and professional arbitrators to demonstrate how bunker disputes can occur, through deliberate actions, negligence or simple misunderstandings, and how arbitration might help resolve them. It gives unrivalled insight into the legal process and provides a stark reminder of the importance of avoiding legal disputes. This event, which has been presented to great acclaim in New York, Panama, Hamburg, Athens and Amsterdam, covers the technical, operational, practical, commercial and legal issues which characterise everyday bunker disputes. Its specially-scripted scenario is played out over a full day by real lawyers and arbitrators and two teams of expert witnesses. The Bunker Arbitration Experience is aimed at newcomers and management level individuals who need to know how best to avoid or deal successfully with potentially damaging bunker disputes.
