This unique programme is designed to inform and to educate through a two-day bunker training course and a dynamic symposium, which will allow ample opportunity for delegates to ask questions and contribute their own experiences.
The two-day Advanced Bunker Course, covers the main areas of bunkering with in-depth sessions on Technical and Operational issues. This course is aimed at people with some knowledge of bunkering who need to refresh their knowledge at a more advanced level.
The content of the Symposium will be suitable both for relative newcomers to the oil, shipping and bunkering industries, and for more experienced personnel. The programme will provide an introductory overview of the oil and shipping business, covering exploration and production, the refining process and the transportation and storage of oil, and will ultimately focus on the practical aspects of supplying marine fuels to ships and how those ships handle the fuel.
It will cover the operational, technical, practical, commercial, environmental, legal and financial aspects of the oil and shipping industries, both from a local West African perspective and from a global viewpoint. Producing, storing, delivering, sampling, testing and burning bunker fuel will also be examined in depth, as will markets, prices, risk management, credit issues, environmental and legal issues.
The intricacies of the global shipping industry will also be explained. Much of this will be new to some delegates, but as Ghana’s oil industry grows, so too will shipping, as will the need to supply ships with fuel. The development of expertise in this field is therefore essential.
