The highlight of Maritime Week Americas is the two-day Pan-American Shipping & Marine Fuels conference, entitled ‘Thriving on Chaos’, which will examine the devastation that has been heaped onto world oil and shipping markets and demonstrate how some companies have not only survived the economic downturn but have positively benefited as a result of careful planning and solid strategic thinking.
New companies are emerging and new markets are being developed, and plenty of opportunities are again beginning to present themselves.
But where are those opportunities, how can we identify them, and how can we avoid falling into the same traps that have caused so much instability and uncertainty over the past few years?
This conference will provide some of the answers. A team of high-level speakers, ranging from oil and shipping companies to fuel experts, lawyers, economists and risk management providers, will together demonstrate that there is a way out of the chaos.
This conference will:
- look at the bigger political and economic picture
- examine developments in the bunker markets of the Americas
- investigate the changes affecting bunkering operations, including fuel availability and demand
- cover technical developments and changing quality standards
- offer new ways to improve supply and purchasing strategies
- delve into credit and price risk management
- discuss the implications for bunker suppliers and buyers of new environmental initiatives
- reveal what continues to occupy the minds of maritime lawyers
